About
Setauket Real Estate
|
Setauket
real estate owes its continued
popularity to a variety of factors and
influences. Primary, of course, is its location. The
village of Setauket is located on the
North Shore of Long Island in central
Suffolk County. In Setauket’s Old Field you will find wealthy waterfront
estates, many that are historic.
Setauket has a New England style
village green with a mill pond, park and
post office.
South Setauket is more varied
with quaint colonial style houses mixing
with light industrial areas and Levitt-built
houses

Setauket,
once a shipbuilding center in the mid 19th
century is now a hamlet where natural
beauty and colonial roots blend the past
and the present. Setauket's residential
real estate market reflects this charm
and history. During the American
Revolution, Setauket was an area of
divided loyalties and home of George
Washington’s Patriot spy ring. One of
the most interesting historical
structures is the Caroline Church of
Brookhaven located across the Village
Green.

Throughout
the 19th Century and up to World War II,
Setauket and East Setauket showed strong
interest in the raising, trading and racing of
horses. And early in this century, Setauket was
a tourist center, though there was aversion to
some related commerce and industry and the trend
faded. Since World War II, the hamlet, with its
colonial village green and historic homes and
buildings, has remained almost entirely
residential, making Setauket real estate a
popular choice on Long Island's North
Shore.
